In 1992, I began Ship Windows, a series of models of 2-sided, window-sculptures based on ship imagery. They are functioning windows structured from ship parts. Ship Windows are the forerunners of my Noah Window (1998) and Redemption Window (2004).

Artist's Notes:

In the early 1990’s I went to Halifax, Nova Scotia to a tiny village on the coast called Man A Dieu.

The village is perched on stunning, rugged rocky terrain facing the Atlantic Ocean. Its name, Man A Dieu, translates to "hand of God," and overlooks one of the largest shipwreck sites in the world.

When I returned to Minnesota, I immediately envisioned 2-sided windows based on ship parts. Each Ship Window interior differs from its exterior– creating two unique viewing experiences.
